FAQs
Can I train my dog at Fiddlehead? Yes. Many hunters want to tune up their dog on placed birds before the regular season. Prices for the placed birds are the same, whether you shoot them or not.
Do you really hunt year-round? We've had pheasant hunts on snowshoes. (It's fun to track them in the snow.) Since we raise most of our birds and they mature in late summer/early autumn, if you wish to hunt in the spring or early summer, allow enough lead time for us to secure birds.
Can I use my own dog? Yes, at the discretion of the guide. We understand that hunting over your own dog can be a wonderful experience. However, if your dog is not under good control or is not finding the birds, the guide may respectfully suggest using his dog. |

The Guides
Fiddlehead's Registered Maine Guides were selected because we believe they are the best of the best. These men have more than 95 years of experience between them. They are consummate professionals whose respect and love for the traditions of hunting with well trained pointing and retrieving dogs make each hunt a unique and rewarding experience. |
The Hunts
All Fiddlehead hunts are fair-chase hunts. We work hard to put you in the right place at the right time so you will have a fruitful hunt, but there are no guarantees. |
Waterfowl Hunts
Fiddlehead Outdoors has three private ponds and extensive wetlands on which it conducts waterfowl hunts for wild birds. Puddle ducks live here (lots of woodies); puddlers and a smattering of divers migrate through. |
Grouse and Woodcock Hunts
Fiddlehead Outdoors has large private covers on which hunters can pursue partridge and native and flight woodcock. Recent populations have been great. |
